Sportsmanship

To help educate athletes, parents and coaches as to the proper way to behave at sporting events, the Nebraska Sports Council works in partnership with the Lincoln Youth Sports Coalition in support of its “Let ‘Em Play” campaign and the University of Nebraska Alumni Association and 4-H to bring awareness to the Great Fans Great Sports movement.  All Cornhusker State Games participants are encouraged to visit the Great Fans Great Sports website for additional resources regarding sportsmanship education and promotion.

All Cornhusker State Games Sport Directors are instructed to strictly enforce a “no tolerance” policy toward bad sportsmanship. In most cases, a verbal warning is issued, followed by ejection and one-game/match suspension, followed by tournament suspension. In rare cases, athletes may be banned from participation in future years.
