Cornhusker State Games Road Cycling Canceled

The Cornhusker State Games road cycling event at Pioneers Park this Sunday, July 30 has been canceled. Riders who have signed up will be issued a full refund.

"We apologize for any inconvenience with this cancellation. We hope to return with this race in 2018. Many thanks to the staff at the Nebraska Sports Council for its continued support of cycling in the Cornhusker State Games," said Race Director John Lefler, Jr.
 

DATE: Sunday, July 30, 2017

SITE: Pioneers Park (3201 S Coddington Ave, Lincoln - View Map).  Use the Van Dorn Street entrance and follow the signs to parking.

THIS YEAR:  The CSG Road Event will feature a Circuit Race only for 2017.

T-SHIRTS & PACKETS:  CSG Cycling - Road Bike participants can pickup their participant t-shirt and packet at normal Packet Pickup locations and times.  
Anyone wishing to upgrade their athlete shirt to the black, performance, moisture-wicking shirt can do so for $10 more.

COURSE DETAILS: The race circuit is a 4.5 mile closed loop, which begins at the entrance to the Pinewood Bowl. The course heads east on the road, down around the Buffalo statue roundabout and then proceeds back to the west before taking a left and heading down the hill on the east side of the Pinewood Bowl. The course continues along the south side of the Pinewood Bowl along the pond. The course turns right at the fork in the road and proceeds north to the next fork and then proceeds LEFT on the road out to the Nature Center, up around the roundabout and then proceeds east back to the Pinewood Bowl. There is a long-ish climb to the finish line. The course is a closed circuit on race day. Please keep this in mind when training on the course beforehand. The race circuit runs AGAINST the normal traffic flow. Complete course details, including a course map will be posted at CornhuskerStateGames.com and nebraskacyclingnews.com in advance of the race. 

USAC LICENSE: The Cornhusker State Games is sanctioned by USA Cycling, the national governing body for cycling. A valid 2017 USA CYCLING RACE LICENSE IS REQUIRED. Annual and one-day licenses are available for purchase at usacycling.org.
AWARDS: Custom Cornhusker State Games gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three finishers overall as well as in each age group.

RULES & INFORMATION:
* All 2017 USA Cycling rules are in effect.
* BEGINNER (fewer than 10 mass start events) OR FIRST TIME RACERS, enter the Men 5 OR Women 4 events.
* Events will be held rain or shine.
* Place numbers on the LEFT side of your jersey.
* Helmets must be worn at all times while on the bike.
* Valid and current USA Cycling license must be presented at rider check-in.
* Race organizers reserve the right to cancel/combine events.
* USAC Permit 2017-____.
* Wheel pit is “wheels in/wheels out.” Identify your wheels. Not responsible for lost or stolen wheels.

REGISTRATION FEES & DEADLINES


IF REGISTERED BY THE DISCOUNT DEADLINE OF THURSDAY, JULY 20:
$25 per person for all race divisions. 

IF REGISTERED AFTER JULY 20:
$35 per person for all race divisions.


FINAL REGISTRATION DEADLINE – JULY 29:
The final registration deadline for this sport is July 29. This sport will accept late registrations with an additional $5 late fee.

NOTE: Entry fee DOES NOT include the cost of an annual or 1-day license, if applicable.

ENTRY FEE INCLUDES: $3 USA surcharge and online registration fee; competition in the 2017 Cornhusker State Games; White cotton athlete shirt (micro-fiber upgrade available); Pass for free admission to SportFest, the Opening Ceremonies, and all competition venues; 2017 Nebraska Sports Council Yearbook (available at packet pickup); Sponsor gifts and coupons.
