General Information

DATE: Saturday, July 14, 2018 (Please note this is a week earlier than other CSG events)

Sport Course:
Check-in - 7 a.m.
Race starts - 8 a.m. sharp

Long Course:
Check-in - 7 a.m.
Race starts- 8 a.m. sharp

Family Course:
Check-in - 9 a.m.
Race starts - 10 a.m. sharp

Note: Race information will be given at check-in time.

AWARDS: Custom Cornhusker State Games gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to all members of the top three teams in each division. Participation medals will be awarded to all family course finishers. Awards will be given out as soon as possible after the end of each race event. It will take some time to check passports and tally results.


IMPORTANT ATHLETE PACKET UPDATE:
 
Athlete Packets for sports that ONLY take place on July 14-15 will be available on the following day and times if not shipped previously:

Lincoln North Star High School - 5801 N. 33rd St., Lincoln
Friday, July 13 - 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
 
Packets that are not able to be picked up on the date above will be made available at the following competition sites:

Saturday, July 14 - Pick up at check in of event.
 
Athletes are encouraged to pick up team boxes on Friday, July 13 at North Star High School to avoid lines on competition day.

Sport Course - 3 to 4 Hours:
Male ​2-Person Team
Female ​2-Person Team
Coed ​2-Person Team

Long Course – 6 to 8 Hours:
Male ​2-Person Team
Female ​2-Person Team

*Family Course - Up to 2 Hours:
2-Person Team
3-Person Team
4-Person Team
5-Person Team
*NOTE: At least one team member must be under 18 years old to be eligible for the Family Course.




Competition Format

The Cornhusker State Games Adventure Race consists of trail running/walking, biking, water events (no swimming), canoeing (long course), and navigation. Participants won’t know exactly what they will be doing until the race starts…that’s part of the adventure!

Length of race will be up to 3 to 4 hours for the Sport Course, 6 to 8 hours for the Long Course and up to 2 hours for the Family Course. Both the Sport Course and Family Course races will be more of an urban race with some off road sections. The Long Course will include gravel and dirt trails.

Order of events and cut off times will be determined the day of the race.

Race instructions will be given to participants at the start/finish area.

All team members try to complete each section within the race to score maximum points.

There will not be water stations on the race course; however, water will be available at the start/finish area.

Directors have the right to disqualify teams at any time, for not following the course rules, not following verbal instructions from volunteers, and for disrespectful treatment of other teams or volunteers.

Team Gear

All teams will be required to bring the following gear. Gear check will take place sometime before or during the race. Participants without the mandatory equipment are subject to disqualification.

Mandatory Team Equipment:
First aid kit suitable for three people
One cell phone per team

Mandatory Personal Bike Equipment:
Bicycle (Sport and Long Courses) - Mountain bikes are highly recommended howerever Cross Bikes are allowed for the Sport and Long Courses. No road bikes for these two divisions. Cross Bikes must have the knobby tires 35mm or wider. 
Bicycle (Family Course) - Mountain, Road, Hybrid, or Cross Bike - basically any bike is allowed for the family racers.
Water bottle or hydration packs for each teammate that can carry 20+ oz. (Sport Course) or 80+ oz. (Long Course)
Bike Helmet

Recommended Team Equipment:
Multi-tool
Two spare tubes or two patch kits
Bike pump or CO2 cartridges
Tire levers
One waterproof map/passport holder (Zip Loc bag) - Highly recommended
Extra water bottles




Roster Info

ROSTER UPDATES:

Teams can make roster updates online here.

The deadline to make roster updates is 5 p.m. on TUESDAY, JULY 10. Rosters are considered FINAL after that date.

Teams that register online are able to login and make roster substitutions free of charge. Teams that register via the paper entry form will be charged a $10 processing fee to substitute players. Teams are strongly encouraged to register online to eliminate any roster change fees.

NOTES: If registering online, the minimum roster size (based on division) must be entered to advance to check-out. Rosters WILL be checked during tournament. Please make sure your roster is current prior to the July 10 deadline.

TEAM WAIVER: The team waiver form must be signed by each team member, or by parent/guardian if the participant is 18 years or younger. If the team is registered online, and the online waiver for each player is clicked as ‘Accepted’, no printed/signed waiver is needed. All team waivers must be clicked as ‘Accepted’ or submitted to the Cornhusker State Games office by TUESDAY, JULY 10 to be eligible for competition. ENTRY FEE INCLUDES: Competition in the 2018 Cornhusker State Games; White cotton athlete shirt (micro-fiber or soft cotton lightweight tri-blend upgrade available); Pass for free admission to SportFest, the Opening Ceremonies, and all competition venues; Sponsor gifts and coupons.

TEAM ONLINE REGISTRATION NOTE: When registering your team online, please note that the system will ask you to enter your team name and roster prior to selecting your sport and division. In the INDIVIDUAL Shipping dropdown menu, be sure to select “TEAM” for each team member. If you wish to have your team packet shipped, you will select that in the TEAM Shipping dropdown menu.

PAPER ENTRY FORMS: Paper entry forms will be accepted with a $10 processing fee per team. Registering online saves time, money and trees.
