National Anthem Contest

The Nebraska Sports Council has conducted a state-wide competition to determine the singer of the Star Spangled Banner at the Opening Ceremonies, which will be held at Seacrest Field in Lincoln on Friday, July 21.

Contestants uploaded their audition videos to YouTube, where a judging panel determined five finalists. This was followed by online voting by the public, and the submission with the most "Likes" was considered the winner of the contest!

Our 2017 National Anthem Contest winner is Nathan Bonsall!

Nathan Bonsall is a 17-year-old living in Kearney, Nebraska. He is a junior at Kearney High School where he participates in music, speech, and theatre. He plans on pursuing a degree in musical theatre once he graduates, as he has been singing since he was 2 years old and thoroughly enjoys belting out any song he wants in his garage every night. He is very excited to be singing the National Anthem at the 2017 Cornhusker State Games!

Nathan will perform the National Anthem at the 2017 CSG Opening Ceremonies at Seacrest Field in Lincoln on Friday, July 21. He will also be recognized in the 2017 Nebraska Sports Council Souvenir Yearbook and on this page.
