Nationally Renowned Freestyle BMXers

to Perform at State Games

Lowest Entry Fees Available Through Feb. 15

LINCOLN, Neb. (February 2, 2018) — NoWear BMX, a family-based BMX stunt team, will perform at the Cornhusker State Games Opening Ceremonies on Friday, July 20 at Seacrest Field in Lincoln.

Headed by veteran pro-style rider and Lincoln native Karl Hinkley and having played fairs and half-time shows across the country, NoWear BMX may be best known for its growing complex near Unadilla. Professional and hobby riders from around the world have traveled to the complex, furthering its reputation as a must-ride destination in the international BMX community.

The NoWear BMX performance highlights a lineup of entertainment including skydivers, fireworks, mascots, parade-of-athletes and the torchlighting by a mystery athlete. The ceremonies kick off 10 days of State Games competition—July 20-29—in more than 60 sports across venues in Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding communities.

The Opening Ceremonies and pre-show SportFest meal are included in athlete entry fees, which remain at their lowest prices in years through Feb. 15.  Each athlete and registered coach also receive a shirt and several sponsored giveaways.

Organizers provided a few examples of current fees, including baseball--$25 per player, basketball--$20 per player, 5K road race--$20, track & field---$16, volleyball--$190 per 10-player team, softball--$24 per player and walk events--$10. Those interested can register at CornhuskerStateGames.com

“We have priced most sports at 10-year lows to encourage early registration and planning for athletes and coaches. With the entertainment aspects included, we hope families will recognize or maybe revisit the Games as a fun, affordable and value-packed family weekend,” Executive Director Dave Mlnarik said.

The Cornhusker State Games is conducted by the Nebraska Sports Council, which also conducts the NE150 Challenge, the Mud Run and the Pumpkin Run.  Platinum partners include Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. of Nebraska, LinPepCo and Nebraska Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine.  Opening Ceremonies sponsors include Nebraska Medical Association, Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau and Arby’s of Lincoln.
