July 12, 2010—Cornhusker State Games Athletes of the Year for 2010 include 25-year table tennis medalist Sylvana Airan of Lincoln, retired Army officer Paul Schmitz also of Lincoln, who won eight medals in four different sports, and three-time high school state wrestling champion Zach Cottle of Fort Calhoun.

June 25, 2010—St. Edward native Scott Shanle, who helped the New Orleans Saints to their first-ever Super Bowl Championship in February, was revealed tonight as the Mystery Torchlighter for the 2010 Cornhusker State Games.

June 19, 2010—The Opening Ceremonies for the 26th annual Cornhusker State Games, featuring a freestyle motocross demonstration, skydivers, fireworks and the revelation of the identity of the mystery torchlighter, is set for 8 p.m. Friday, June 25 at Seacrest Field, 7600 A Street, in Lincoln.

June 9, 2010 - Officials announced today that Cornhusker State Games registrations are still being accepted in most sports through Friday, June 11 and that two new Cornhusker State Games sports, Lacrosse and Jiu Jitsu, take center stage this weekend in early competition.

May 24, 2010—One week prior to the Cornhusker State Games early entry deadline, entries are streaming in and the new School Spirit Award competition is heating up. The new program, sponsored by the Nebraska State College System, provides funding support for schools across Nebraska according to voting by Cornhusker State Games participants.

May 10, 2010 - Nebraskans are encouraged to participate in the 2010 Cornhusker State Games (CSG), June 19-27 and vote for their favorite high school on the registration form as part of the inaugural CSG School Spirit Award Program. This new program – which is sponsored by the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) and its member institutions, Chadron, Peru and Wayne State Colleges – provides support to Nebraska high schools across the state.

April 26, 2010—University of Nebraska Wrestler and Howells native Craig Brester, who was recently named UNL’s 2010 Male Student-Athlete of the Year, will serve as the honorary first runner for the 2010 Cornhusker State Games Torch Run. The Torch Run, which is sponsored by the Nebraska Air National Guard and Army National Guard, begins Monday, May 3rd at 2:30 p.m. with a brief staging ceremony at the Nebraska-Wyoming border on Highway 26 west of Morrill.

March 22, 2010 – Registration is open for the 26th annual Cornhusker State Games, set for June 19-27 in Lincoln and the surrounding area.  Lacrosse, Jiu Jitsu, and Ultimate Frisbee will make their Cornhusker State Games debut and bring the sport total to 64. Nebraska Sports Council officials met with sponsors, volunteers and members of the media at a noon luncheon on Monday, March 22 at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Lincoln to provide details on the amateur sports festival for Nebraskans of all ages and abilities.  The 2010 edition is expected to draw more than 13,000 athletes.

January 21, 2010 - Dr. Richard Hammer, co-founder of the Nebraska Sports Council/Cornhusker State Games passed away the morning of Wednesday, January 20. We will miss him dearly, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the Hammer family.
