Competition Format

Teams will play a round robin tournament with the top team from each bracket playing a single or double elimination tournament, depending on the number of teams in each division. Teams may play Saturday, Sunday, or both days. All teams guaranteed four games. Depending on # of teams in tournament - the format could be either of the following options. 3 game guarantee bracketed tournament. Otherwise teams will be put into a pool where they will play a round robin format. Top teams in each pool will move to Gold division while remaining pool teams will move to Silver division - all divisions will then be bracketed out for a single elimination tournament

The director reserves the right to reclassify teams as needed and may combine events depending on the number of entries. All teams will be notified if changes are made.

Roster Info

The deadline to make Men/Women roster updates is 5 p.m. on TUESDAY, JULY 10. Rosters are considered FINAL after that date.

The deadline to make COED roster updates is 5 p.m. on TUESDAY, JULY 17. Rosters are considered FINAL after that date.

Roster additions after July 6 will include the per-player entry fee, plus a $10 late fee PER PLAYER.

Teams that register online are able to login and make roster substitutions free of charge. Teams that register via the paper entry form will be charged a $10 processing fee to substitute players. Teams are strongly encouraged to register online to eliminate any roster change fees.

MINIMUM ROSTER SIZE: Nine players. If registering online, the minimum roster size must be entered to advance to check-out.

NOTE: Rosters WILL be checked during tournament. Please make sure your roster is current prior to the July 17 deadline.

TEAM WAIVER: The team waiver form must be signed by each team member, or by parent/guardian if the participant is 18 years or younger. If the team is registered online, and the online waiver for each player is clicked as ‘Accepted’, no printed/signed waiver is needed. All team waivers must be clicked as ‘Accepted’ or submitted to the Cornhusker State Games office by TUESDAY, JULY 17 to be eligible for competition. Registration Fees & Deadlines

$180 per TEAM until Mar. 29
$200 per TEAM until May 31
$220 per TEAM until June 21
$240 per TEAM until July 6

ENTRY FEE INCLUDES: Competition in the 2018 Cornhusker State Games; White cotton athlete shirt (micro-fiber upgrade available); Pass for free admission to SportFest, the Opening Ceremonies, and all competition venues; 2018 Nebraska Sports Council Yearbook (available at packet pickup); Sponsor gifts and coupons.

UMPIRE FEES: Each team must bring $10 in cash to the coin-flip of each game played for the umpire fees. This makes it fair for all teams and assures that the teams who get eliminated early don't have to pay as much for the umpire fees as the teams who continue to advance. Per player entry fees have been discounted to account for this charge.

TEAM ONLINE REGISTRATION NOTE: When registering your team online, please note that the system will ask you to enter your team name and roster prior to selecting your sport and division. In the INDIVIDUAL Shipping dropdown menu, be sure to select “TEAM” for each team member. If you wish to have your team packet shipped, you will select that in the TEAM Shipping dropdown menu.

PAPER ENTRY FORMS: Paper entry forms will be accepted with a $10 processing fee per team. Registering online saves time, money and trees. If registering via the paper entry form, please rate your team as being Above Average, Average or Below Average. List this information in the Additional Details/Special Instructions section of the entry form.

SCHEDULING NOTE: It is Nebraska Sports Council policy to not release team or divisional information until after the entry deadline. With teams waiting until on or near the deadline to enter, releasing data prior to that day does not provide an accurate picture of the tournament field and serves only to discourage those taking a wait-and-see approach.

All teams are encouraged to take advantage of the early entry discount and enter prior to that deadline, which in turn generates additional interest as teams attract one another. In the rare event that a division does not supply enough teams to warrant a viable tournament, teams will be given the option to move to another division, or be issued a refund. We appreciate the understanding of coaches and parents on this matter and would encourage teams to enter early and trust that there will be adequate competition in all divisions.
