LINCOLN, Neb. (April 12, 2021) — Nebraska Sports Council (NSC) officials have announced a partnership with Nebraska State Soccer (NSS) to host the Cornhusker State Games (CSG) Soccer tournament. NSS will provide promotional and operational support of the event.
NSS represents a membership of over 25,000 youth and adult soccer players, 3,000 coaches, 900 referees and 1,000 administrators throughout the State of Nebraska. NSS provides and supports opportunities for the development and growth of its members through the game of soccer, with an ongoing commitment to service, education, promotion, and administrative support for all levels, ages, and abilities of soccer players in Nebraska.
CSG Soccer will include youth and adult divisions. Youth soccer will offer six different events (U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U19) for both male and females. Adult soccer will offer four different events (Men Competitive, Men Recreational, Women’s, and Mixed Coed).
CSG competitions are open to athletes of all ages and abilities, with 70 sports at venues in Lincoln, Omaha, Kearney, Grand Island, Columbus, and surrounding communities. The final deadline to register for most sports is July 5.
All registered athletes will receive a shirt, free meal, admission to the Opening Ceremonies, and a chance to win one of 5,000 custom-cast gold, silver, and bronze medals. Finishers in several events will receive commemorative medallions.
NSC officials are planning in-person Opening Ceremonies on Friday, July 16 at Seacrest Field in Lincoln with a parade of athletes, skydivers, fireworks, patriotic tribute, mascot showcase, and torch-lighting.
The Cornhusker State Games is conducted by the Nebraska Sports Council, which also conducts the Lincoln and Omaha Corporate Games, the WellPower Movement, the Mud Run, and the Pumpkin Run. Learn more at NebraskaSportsCouncil.com.
