General Information

If weather or wind do not cooperate, our alternative race day will be TBD. This is also an alternative date for Junior races.

SITE: Branched Oak Lake Recreation Area (15 Miles northwest of Lincoln)

Boat launching will be from the Lincoln Sailing Club site.  NO ACTIVITIES WILL OCCUR AT THE MARINA as in previous years.  Lincoln Sailing Club address: plus code X4HC+38 Malcolm, Elk, NE; Lat/Long: 40°58’41.6″N 96°52’44.4″W

The facilities at LSC lack electricity and running water

STATE PARK PERMITS: State park permits are needed for vehicles to enter Branched Oak State Recreation Area. Permits may be purchased at the park.

TIMES:

7 – 8 am- Doors open. Arrive and rig boat. (Lincoln Sailing Club mast crane will be available for use).

8 – 9 am – Registration: No registration or payments on site. However, changes to categories, skipper/crew designation, teams, etc. will be allowed.

9 am – Skippers meeting.

9.30 am – Opening Ceremony and National Anthem.

10:30 am – First race.

12.30-2.00 pm – Lunch provided.

2 – 5 pm – Racing resumes (no races after 5 pm)

5.30- 7.30 pm – Dinner (provided), awards and social gathering by Lincoln Sailing Club at Branched Oak Lake.

NOTE: Skipper meetings will be at Lincoln Sailing Club clubhouse.

AWARDS: Custom Cornhusker State Games gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to each crew member of the top three finishing boats in each class.

MEDAL PICKUP: Medals not picked up on site during competition may still be claimed after the Games through the following process:

1. Medal Pickup in Lincoln: Participants who wish to pick up their medal(s) in person must email us at info@nebraskasportscouncil.com to notify our staff of their intent to pick up. After verification of eligibility, the medal(s) will be packaged and available for pickup at the Nebraska Sports Council office.

2. Medal Shipping: If participants are unable to pick up their medal(s) in Lincoln, we offer a shipping option for a $6 fee. To request shipping:

Email info@nebraskasportscouncil.com, and a staff member will follow up with verification and payment instructions OR call 402-471-2544 to verify and process your order and payment over the phone.

Events

DIVISIONS:
Snipe Open

Dinghy/Daysailer Open – Boats under 18 ft. If at least 4 boats of the same type register by July 14, they will compete as a different category (e.g. Laser, Catamaran, Scow)

Cruiser Open – Boats 18 ft or above

Sunfish Open

Junior Open – Participants less than 18 years of age sailing a Sunfish or a Snipe. If at least 3 sunfish and 3 snipe register by July 14, they will compete as a different class with their corresponding medals. For Snipes, Junior Teams will be ranked higher than Junior Skippers with crew 18 years old and older.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

Portsmouth scoring with in Dinghy & Cruiser fleets.  Place finish in Sunfish & Snipe fleets. Starts will be at the discretion of sailing director, dependent upon number of boats in each fleet.  Crew can come and go, be substituted, etc., if the sailing director is notified of this at the skippers meeting. Crew changes are not allowed to change crew weight based on weather changes.

The event will consist of about five races. At least one race will be before lunch, with time to eat and tune boat before heading back out for the remainder of the races. No races will start after 5 p.m.

RULES: USSA and class rules will apply. Class membership is not required.
