DIVISIONS
F-Class shooting consists of two categories: F-Open and F-T/R. In F-Open—the most popular division—rifles must weigh under 10 kilograms (roughly 22 pounds), may be any caliber .35 and under and may be fired from an adjustable front rest (such as benchrest shooters use) plus a rear sandbag. Rifles must be fired from the shoulder, and rail guns are not allowed and no lead sleds. No Muzzle Breaks allowed.
In the F-T/R division, caliber options are limited to standard .223 Rem. or .308 Win. Rifle weight limit is 8.25 kilograms (about 18 pounds). The only front support allowed is a bipod; a sandbag may be used under the rear of the stock. No Muzzle Breaks allowed.
Competition Format and Rules
The course of fire will be:
Shooters will be given a shooting position and relay by the Match Director/Range Officer. The number of relays will be dependent on the number of shooters present. 40 shooters will equate to four relays with 10 targets.
There will be five matches comprised of 20 shot record strings, for a total of 100 record shots. Shooters will be given unlimited sighters on first 20 shots for record in a block time of 90 minutes for four shooters per target. The next four 20 shot matches will be two sighters in a block time of 90 minutes for four shooters per target.
Rules: NRA F-Class Rules Apply
The Range Officer (RO) will call the line – “ready on the right, ready on the left, with one round load, the line is hot, commence fire.”
Once shooters are given the command “commence fire” All sighters and record shots must be fired in the 90-minute block period for all four shooters, or a miss will be given for each shot that is left. SHOOTERS MUST PUSH THE BEGIN BUTTON ON THE DEVICE TO START TO RECORD SHOTS!
Upon completion of each string, shooters will remove their gear from the bench and move it to the rear of the line. A new shooter will then place their gear in the assigned location and begin their string of sighters and 20 shots for record. Repeat this process five times – until all shooters have 100 record shots.
Shots will be scored by Shotmarker electronic target systems, and they will be set to use the 600-yard MR-1 FC target. There will be a seven second delay in the target system, between shots.
When not shooting the competitor will be either on deck (preparing to shoot) or verifying scores for the shooter on the firing point.
Shooters must have an electronic tablet, iPad, laptop, or smartphone to view shots on target and verify scores.
To shoot this match shooters will need approximately 130 rounds of ammo – depending on the number of sighters the shooter takes. Shooters will need a rifle that fits one of the categories and the appropriate rests. Shooters will also need an ECI (empty chamber indicator), scoring device (tablet, iPad, smartphone, or laptop), and eye and hearing protection. Eye and hearing protection are mandatory. If spectators are on the firing line, they will be required to have eye and hearing protection as well.
The Range Officer has final say in all matters and rulings. If shooters have a problem immediately confer with the RO.
The RO will help shooters get on target initially, if the shooter needs help. The Shotmarker target systems are expensive, and the club does not want our systems damaged. If the shooter consistently fails to keep shots on the target the shooter will be asked to cease fire, and the shooter will forfeit the match.
