12:30 p.m. – Squadding for .22 Semi-auto and .22 Revolver for 1 p.m. start time

1 p.m. – Squadding for Centerfire Semi-auto and Centerfire Revolver for 1:30 p.m. start time

1:30 p.m. – Squadding for .22 Semi-auto and .22 Revolver for 2 p.m. start time

2 p.m. – Squadding for Centerfire Semi-auto and Centerfire Revolver for 2:30 p.m. start time

2:30 p.m. – Squadding for .22 Semi-auto and .22 Revolver for 3 p.m. start time

3 p.m. – Squadding for Centerfire Semi-auto and Centerfire Revolver for 3:30 p.m. start time

Additional times may be made available once all listed times are filled. Specific shooting times will be posted at CornhuskerStateGames.com and emailed to participants the week of competition.

RULES: NRA International Style Pistol Rules (https://competitions.nra.org/media/8912/2023-international-pistol-rules.pdf) govern except where superseded by information specified below on the Cornhusker State Games Plinking Pistol event page.

Only safe gun handling is accepted. Sport Director’s decisions are final. Any unsafe behavior by shooters or spectators will not be tolerated.

All firearms must be in safe working order and are subject to inspection. Ammunition, safety glasses, and other equipment are also subject to inspection. Eye and ear protection are required.

Pistols must have OPEN SIGHTS only. No magnum, +P, or steel core ammunition permitted.

Only standard, unmodified ANSI Z87+ rated safety glasses with fixed frames or prescription eyewear with fixed frames are allowed. A removable blinder for the non-shooting eye is the ONLY permitted glasses accessory. Any requests for eyewear accommodation outside of these specifications must be submitted to the Sport Director a week in advance at minimum.

AWARDS: Custom Cornhusker State Games gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event.

Events

Each athlete may shoot in only one Division per Event. Athletes may select a different Division per Event, depending on eligibility.

Event Definitions:

.22 Semi-auto Pistol: Any .22 caliber rimfire semi-automatic pistol with open sights and minimum 2.2 pound trigger pull.
Centerfire Semi-auto Pistol: Any centerfire semi-automatic pistol up to and including .45 caliber with open sights and minimum 3 pound trigger pull.
.22 Revolver: Any .22 caliber rimfire revolver pistol with open sights and minimum 2.2 pound trigger pull.
Centerfire Revolver: Any centerfire revolver pistol up to and including .45 caliber with open sights and minimum 3 pound trigger pull.

Division Definitions:

Open: All athletes are eligible to compete in the Open Division.
Women: Women of any age may opt to compete in this women’s-only division. Women athletes who are eligible in Junior, Novice Adult, Open, or Senior divisions may alternately enter in one of those divisions for COED competition.
Junior: Junior athletes who are age 18 years or younger as of July 6, 2024 may opt to compete in this youth-only division. Youth athletes who are eligible in Open or Women divisions may alternately enter in one of those.
Senior: Senior athletes who are age 65 years or older as of July 6, 2024 may opt to compete in this division. Senior athletes who are eligible in Open, Women, or Adult Novice divisions may alternately enter in one of those.
Adult Novice: Adult athletes who are 19 years or older as of July 6, 2024 and who have not  previously won a gold, silver, or bronze medal in Cornhusker State Games Plinking Pistol (in any division within that particular firearm event) may elect to compete as an Adult Novice. Potential novice athletes who are eligible in Open, Women, or Senior divisions may alternately enter in one of those.

 

Competition Format

COMPETITION FORMAT

All events are 30 record shots at (target and distance TBD), using a 2-handed or 1-handed grip from an unsupported standing position.

Practice shots:

Preparation and sighter period: unlimited sighter (unscored practice) shots within 5-minute time limit. 

Scored shots:

Stage 1: One string of five shots in 150 seconds, two times
Stage 2: One string of five shots in twenty seconds, two times
Stage 3: One string of five shots in ten seconds, two times

SHIRT SHIPPING: Athletes who register by June 19 will have their shirt shipped to the address they provide. Upgrade and additional shirts will be available to purchase during registration. There is no packet pickup—information or items needed for competition will be provided onsite or online according to instructions emailed to athletes.

PAPER ENTRY FORMS: Paper entry forms will be accepted with a $5 processing fee. Registering online saves time, money and trees.
