LINCOLN, Neb. (May 3, 2019) – Cornhusker State Games officials have announced four finalists in the 2019 CSG National Anthem Contest. Finalists include Rachel Young, 15, North Platte; Annie Rinke, 45, Lincoln; Addison Earnest, 16, Malcolm; and Nathan Schreiter, 25, Lincoln.

Each finalist’s audition video will be posted on the Cornhusker State Games Opening Ceremonies Facebook page. Voting will be open from May 3-19, and the winner will be announced on May 20. Whichever contestant collects the most votes will earn the honor of singing the national anthem at the Opening Ceremonies on Friday, July 19.

Besides the traditional parade of athletes, anthem and torch lighting, entertainment for this year’s Opening Ceremonies includes skydivers, mascots, fireworks and nationally renowned trampoline act Flippenout. Ceremonies take place at Lincoln’s Seacrest Field at 8 p.m. on July 19 and are preceded by SportFest, which includes a free meal and entertainment for athletes.

Admission is free for all registered athletes, while adult passes will be sold at the gate for $10, child passes (6-18) will be sold for $5, and all children five and under are free.

The 35th annual Cornhusker State Games, which take place July 13-28, are expected to draw 11,000 participants to competition venues in Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding communities. More than 70 sports are offered for athletes of all ages and abilities.
