ESPN’s SportsCenter to Feature Nebraska in “50 States in 50 Days” Coverage

LINCOLN, Neb. (June 18, 2025) —
Nebraskans looking to compete in the 2025 Cornhusker State Games have until Wednesday, July 2 at 11:59 p.m. to register for most of the more than 70 sports offered in this year’s event, scheduled for July 10-20 in Lincoln, Omaha, Columbus, Fremont, Grand Island, North Platte and other communities across the state.

The Cornhusker State Games, one of the largest multi-sport festivals in the nation, welcomes athletes of all ages and skill levels. Events range from traditional sports like basketball, swimming and volleyball, to niche competitions like chess, disc golf and fencing.

This year’s Games will also enjoy national exposure, as ESPN’s SportsCenter will feature Nebraska and the Cornhusker State Games as part of its “50 States in 50 Days” summer tour. The feature, airing on July 15, will spotlight Nebraska’s sports culture, local athletes, and the impact of the Games over its 40-year history.

“I speak for our entire ESPN crew when I say we can’t wait to get out to the great state of Nebraska to experience the Cornhusker State Games,” said David Lloyd, ESPN anchor. “We have already heard rave reviews about the various competitions and backstories of some of the athletes, and are looking forward to sharing the flavor and spirit of the Games with the rest of the country. We’ll see you in just a few weeks.”

Ashley Kramer, Director of Operations for the Nebraska Sports Council, echoed the excitement. “We’re thrilled to see our athletes and volunteers recognized on a national stage,” she said. “This is a special moment to celebrate not only Nebraska’s talent but also our strong sense of community.”

Athletes can view the full sport list and register online at CornhuskerStateGames.com. Most events are open for registration through July 2, with a few filling up quickly due to limited spots.
