LINCOLN, Neb. (July 5, 2019) The final deadline to register for most sports in the 2019 Cornhusker State Games is Monday, July 8.  Those interested can find more information and register at CornhuskerStateGames.com.

More than 7,000 athletes are already registered for the Games, most of which take place July 19-28 in Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding communities. Competition is offered in 70 sports at venues in Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding communities.

Opening Ceremonies for the Games are set for Friday, July 19 at 8 p.m. at Seacrest Field in Lincoln and feature the parade of athletes, skydivers, fireworks, mascots, nationally renowned trampoline team Flippenout and caldron-lighting by a mystery celebrity-athlete.

Governor Pete Ricketts will be on hand at the Ceremonies, along with U.S. Bobsled Athlete Nicole Brungardt, Miss Nebraska America (Kara Kriha), Mrs. Nebraska (Adair Reese), Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird, the NAIA National Champion Concordia Bulldogs Women’s Basketball Team and legendary high school wrestling coach Norm Manstedt of Clarks, who will serve as the Honorary Parade Marshal.

Besides the competition, registered athletes receive free admission to the Opening Ceremonies, a free meal at SportFest and a free athlete shirt.

The Cornhusker State Games, conducted by the Nebraska Sports Council is among the top five largest multi-sport festivals in the nation and serves as a qualifier for the 2021 State Games of America in Ames/Des Moines, Iowa.  Learn more at NebraskaSportsCouncil.com.
