Reminder–Face Coverings Now Required at Indoor Venues

Lincoln (July 23, 2020)—The final weekend of competition in the 2020 Cornhusker State Games (CSG), featuring action in 28 sports, kicks off at 6 a.m. Friday with 30 two-person teams fishing for bass at Lake Wanahoo just north of Wahoo.

The Cornhusker State Games debut of the Super Retriever Series also begins Friday with field trials at a field North of Lincoln near 1501 W. Waverly Road. The event is filled to capacity with 115 retriever dogs registered.

The high school division of the CSG soccer tournament resumes at 6:30 p.m. Friday at LSF Lincoln Sports Complex with bracket play for the 12 teams who were seeded into divisions based on last weekend’s pool play results.

Adult indoor volleyball, with 58 teams, takes place July 25-26 at Speedway Sports Complex in Lincoln.

Other sports taking place this weekend include 3-on-3 Basketball, 5K Road Race, BMX Racing, Bowling, Cornhole, Curling, Cycle Tour, Karate, Kart Racing, Mountain Bike, Open-Water Swimming, Pocket Billiards, Tennis, Walk Events and seven different Shooting sports.

Overall, 6,300 athletes are registered for this year’s 35th annual edition of the Games. The composite schedule of events can be viewed at CornhuskerStateGames.com.

Officials issued a reminder to all who plan to participate or attend the Games that face coverings must be worn at all indoor venues. Participants are not required to wear a mask while competing. Other exceptions to the face-covering health measure can be found at the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department website.

The 2020 Cornhusker State Games is a program of the Nebraska Sports Council and a qualifying event for the 2022 State Games of America, which will be held in Ames/Des Moines, Iowa.
